The UUA & the UU Service Committee are joining together to offer a pre-GA Social Justice Training to End the War in Iraq. (Note: The skills you learn will be helpful for all kinds of social justice organizing.)

November is coming fast, which means that it's a great time to step up our organizing and advocacy against the unjust and immoral war in Iraq. Learn how UUs can raise our voices and carry a message for peace into the 2008 elections and beyond. Join UUSC and the UUA for a day-long activist training before General Assembly. Participants will get updated policy information and practical tools and skills for taking effective action.

This year we are offering "Super Sessions" at GA: Double-length workshops on building concrete strategic planning, organizing, advocacy, media, and mobilization skills! Both sessions will be offered at:

Saturday 6/28 at 1:30 - 4:30 PM

Faithful Democracy 2008: Organizing, Advocacy, and Mobilization

This workshop will cover relevant IRS guidelines, organizing strategies, and best practices for voter education and mobilization work. It will feature Kindra Mutz, president of Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections (SAFE) and award-winning UU voting-rights activist from Florida! And Rob Keithan, Director of the UUA Washington Office for Advocacy; Shelley Moskowitz, UUSC Representative in Washington, D.C.; and Susan Leslie, Director of the UUA Office for Congregational Advocacy & Witness. Public Witness for Congregations: Inspired Faith, Effective Action

Learn how to form strategic partnerships, engage in high-visibility advocacy efforts, and attract the attention of media outlets. We'll learn from successful examples of work on issues such as marriage equality, war resistance, and racial justice. Rev.
